About me: My path to supporting you.

My journey to becoming a counsellor isn't just a career path; it comes from personal experience and a belief in the power of understanding and being heard. I've always been drawn to helping others navigate life's complexities, a path created from pivotal moments where I witnessed the transformative power of simply being truly heard and understood.

My Story

My own life, like many, has presented its share of significant challenges. I've personally navigated periods of profound change, loss, and the intricate dynamics within complex family systems. My own journey has shown me the complexities of family dynamics and the profound impact of past experiences on our present selves. Discovering the healing power of empathy, I understand the courage it takes to confront difficult truths and seek support. My path has taught me the importance of creating a secure base, a place where you feel safe, heard, and truly seen.

These experiences, though at times incredibly difficult, have instilled in me a deep appreciation for the capacity for resilience and the profound impact of finding understanding and a secure base when navigating life's storms.

I recall a moment, a while ago, where a conversation with someone close confirmed my purpose. As we spoke openly about a past experience, I witnessed a visible realisation of deep-seated emotional pain being acknowledged for the very first time. In that exchange, I saw the immense power of naming that experience and offering a non-judgmental space to process those emotions. It was a profound insight into how simply being present, truly listening, and gently validating another's truth can be the first, most courageous step towards healing.

This, coupled with over 18 years of advocating for a loved one with autism within the complex educational settings and therapeutic systems, navigating the educational health care plan (EHCP), working with a variety of professionals, such as speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and specialist teachers, and gaining an understanding of special education needs (SEN), initially made me feel overwhelmed, yet finally gave me the conviction that my unique blend of empathy, resilience and practical understanding could genuinely help others. It became clear that I wasn't just able to do this work; I was meant to.

As your counsellor, I am not just bringing academic knowledge; I bring a lived understanding of what it means to face adversity, to seek strength, and to build a life rich in meaning and connection, even when starting from difficult places. My commitment is to create a safe, empathetic, and confidential space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and empowered to explore your own path forward
